Pandemic and Its New Habit
Mercy
My family always celebrated the new year at my uncle’s
house. Together with my cousins, we went upstairs to the third floor and
watched the night sky lighten-up by the firework. Sometimes we ordered pizza
delivery for a snack, but the other times our mother cooked some delicious
meals for us.
This year, we celebrated the new year with a new habit.
Pandemic hits us hard. It forced us to wear a mask
everywhere, it forced us to keep a safe distance, and it even forced us to
celebrate the new year at our own home.
On December 31st, 2020, my mother bought us some fish and
pork. We decided to bake it all in front of my house. Just me and my family,
with our nearest neighbor. We enjoy the moment where we can talked and shared
our story with each other.
The same condition applied on last Christmas. It felt a
little bit sad to know that we should celebrate Christmas via zoom meeting with
our church-mates. But that's okay. We adapted the new habit and learned to love
it.
That's all my holiday stories. In realities I didn't go
anywhere, but actually I learned and explored so many things at home. Thanks
God for this new year!
